South Indian Fish Curry

Serves 5

  • Tomato Stock: 250 ml
  • Water: 100ml
  • Black Mustard Seeds: 10g
  • Kari Leaf: 8pcs
  • Onion Paste: 10g
  • Salt: To taste
  • Turmeric: 5g
  • Vegetable Oil:10ml
  • EIC Garam Masala: 5g
  • Cayenne: Optional
  • Firm White Fish (i.e. Basa or Tilapia): 2 lb


  • Cut fish into 1 ½ inch pieces.
  • Heat oil over medium-high heat and add mustard seeds.
  • Once they start to crackle add the kari leaf and aloow to darken.
  • Add cayenne, turmeric, salt, and then onion paste.
  • Add tomato paste and water and allow to boil, stirring from time to time. If sauce becomes to thick add extra water.
  • Once boiling, reduce heat to medium and add fish. Allow fish 5-8 minutes to cook. Add the Garam Malasa and stir in. Once fish is fully cooked, place in serving dish or over rice.
